Star England Bowler Ruled Out Of Series Against Pakistan And New Zealand, Here Is The Reason

The England Cricket team is ready to travel to Pakistan for a three-match Test series. England will also move to New Zealand for the same number of matches. Meanwhile, the England cricket team has got a huge blow as the star speedster Mark Wood has been ruled out from both the series.

The reason behind this is bone-stress injury to his right elbow and the bowler is not going to make a comeback anytime soon.

As per a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the 34-year-old cricketer had been dealing with growing stiffness and discomfort in his elbow throughout the two-Test series against the West Indies.

He also played in the first Test against Sri Lanka, where he picked up a right thigh injury. The ECB mentioned that Wood is recovering well from the thigh injury.

While posting on his official Instagram ID, Wood said,”During what I thought was a routine check on a previously troublesome elbow, I was shocked to learn I’ve got some bone stress in my right elbow,” Wood said in his post.

“After the minor groin injury at Emirates Old Trafford, me and the medical team felt it was a good time to get my elbow looked at as it was a bit irritated. I’d put that down to the normal niggles every fast bowler gets and which I was playing through.”

“I’m especially surprised because I’ve been playing Test cricket and kept my speeds up,” he said.

“I work incredibly hard on my fitness, putting in extra work with coaches and physios making this even more disappointing. However, I guess this is, ‘part of being a fast bowler’, like Stokesy says.”
