Will Rohit Sharma cancel his T20I retirement? Hitman gives a major statement

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy played in West Indies. After winning the match against South Africa played at Bridgetown by seven wickets, three Indian superstars – Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game, T20I cricket.

The announcement by these players shocked the cricket fans and now India will play their T20Is in the absence of these players. Currently, men in Blue is hosting Bangladesh for the two-match T20I series and three-match T20I series.

Now, Rohit Sharma has given a huge statement on whether there is still a chance he can make a comeback to T20I cricket once again. The skipper said that generally in foreign countries players get a U-turn after announcing retirement from the team, but he is not going to do any such act.

While speaking to Jio Cinema, ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh, Sharma said, “Retirement has become a joke these days in World cricket, people announce retirement but then return to play, it hasn’t happened in India – however I have been observing players from other countries, they announce retirement but then make a U-turn so you never really know whether someone has actually retired – my decision is final & I am very clear – it was a perfect time to say goodbye from T20I.”

Team India will play their first match against Bangladesh in Chennai on September 19. Players like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are likely to be rested for the first game. This will also mark the return of Kohli to Test cricket after a long gap. He played his last Test match for India against South Africa.

After the two Tests, which are the part of the World Test Championship, India and Bangladesh will clash each other for three-match T20 series.
