Rohit Sharma’s Post for Rahul Dravid Goes Viral, Calls Him ‘Work Wife’

Rohit Sharma expressed his gratitude, saying he feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to work closely with Rahul Dravid.

Since winning the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian team has been showered with praise. Coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma have also received a lot of appreciation. However, Rahul Dravid’s tenure as coach has now ended. In recognition of Dravid’s contributions to Team India, captain Rohit Sharma shared an emotional post, referring to Dravid as his “work wife.”

On July 9, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma posted on Instagram, sharing several photos with Rahul Dravid. He wrote:

“Dear Rahul Bhai, I am trying to find the right words to express my feelings, but I am not sure I will ever be able to. So, this is my attempt.”

Rohit continued:

“Since childhood, like billions of others, I have considered you my role model. But I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work closely with you. You are a legend of the game, but you put aside all your achievements and honors to become our coach. We all felt comfortable saying anything to you.”

Rohit mentioned how his wife calls Rahul Dravid his work wife. He wrote:

“This is your gift: your humility and your love for the game even after all these years. I have learned so much from you, and I will always remember it. My wife calls you my ‘work wife,’ and I feel lucky to be able to call you that too. The World Cup title was the only thing missing from your cabinet, and I am very happy that we achieved it together. Rahul Bhai, it is an honor for me to call you my confidant, my coach, and my friend.”

Rohit Stopped Dravid from Quitting!

Before the first match of the T20 World Cup, Rohit spoke to the media about how he persuaded Dravid to remain as head coach. Rohit said:

“I tried to convince him to stay, but obviously there are many things he needs to take care of. But yes, I personally enjoyed the time I spent with him.”

Dravid acknowledged that Rohit called him after the final loss in the ODI World Cup to persuade him to stay. In a BCCI video, Dravid said:

“Thank you very much, Rohit, for calling me in November and asking me to stay. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with all of you.”

Dravid further mentioned that as captain and coach, they have to communicate frequently. They agree on some things and disagree on others. It has been wonderful to get to know all the players of the Indian team.
