The India National Cricket Team will play a two-Test series against Bangladesh. Yashasvi Jaiswal must give the team a strong start alongside captain Rohit Sharma.
He is seen as a rising star in cricket, but former India player Aakash Chopra didn’t mention his name when comparing a young batter to MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
During a chat on the Shubhankar Mishra podcast on YouTube, Aakash praised Shubman Gill for having a great understanding of the game. He said that this skill was something Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni had before.
“Shubman Gill quickly understands the pulse of the game. Some take time to develop this quality, while there is another lot that I never understand. The greats of the game understand it quickly. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni understood the pulse quickly,” he said.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are part of Team India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh which will start on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Jaiswal will open the innings with Rohit Sharma, while Shubman Gill will bat at number 3.
According to reports, Shubman Gill will not participate in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The selectors want him to stay fresh for the Test series against New Zealand, starting on October 16.
