Exclusive: Why Senior Indian Players Ask For Rest? Rohit Sharma Reveals The Reason

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has highlighted the need for careful workload management due to the packed schedule. India is set to play five home Tests against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

After the series against the Kiwis, team India will play a five-match Test series in Australia as the part of Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Apart from these Test matches, some T20Is are lined up in the coming months.

While talking to reporters in Chennai ahead of the first Test match, Rohit Sharma said, “We will keep it in the back of the mind. You want your best players to play all the matches but it is not possible.”

After the red-ball series, India will also play a T20I series against Bangladesh.

“There are T20s lined up as well, so join for the manage well. We will monitor them and we have done it well in the past.”

“We managed to give [Jasprit] Bumrah and [Mohammed] Siraj one Test off during the England series,” Rohit recalled.

In a five-match series, Bumrah was not included in the fourth Test in Ranchi, and Siraj was rested for the second Test in Vizag.

“We will talk to Physios and manage that. In the Duleep Trophy, we had some exciting talents. Not worried about the pool,” Rohit added.

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma played his last Test against the England Cricket Team in Dharamshala. On the other hand, Virar Kohli had his last outing in the longest format of the game against South Africa in Capetown.
