KL Rahul Or Sarfaraz Khan? BCCI Reveals The Choice In The Playing XI

BCCI has announced the squad for the first Test match against Bangladesh. Rishabh Pant has made the comeback into the team, while KL Rahul has also been added to the Indian squad after a long time. The domestic sensation of the team India Sarfaraz Khan has proved himself in the debut match.

Till now Sarfaraz Khan has played five innings for the Indian team in which he has scored three half-centuries. However, according to the latest report, not Sarfaraz Khan but KL Rahul has an edge over Sarfaraz to play in the playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai.

The team management and selection committee are reportedly focused on the upcoming tour of Australia in November-December. With 50 Tests under his belt, KL Rahul’s experience positions him favorably for selection.

The team management has to choose between Sarfaraz’s youthful flair and fearlessness, and the experience of KL Rahul.

“For people on the outside, they don’t understand how a team works and what are the systems in place. In his last three Test matches, KL scored a century in South Africa, one of the best Test knocks in recent times, and 86 at Hyderabad in the last Test he played before injury.”

A BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity, “he was not dropped but got injured. So, he is fit and available, scored a fifty in Duleep, got match time and he will start.”

While speaking for Sarfaraz Khan, the source added, “Sarfaraz has done everything right and mind it, if there is an injury anywhere, he will just walk in but Rahul’s experience is irreplaceable. And the team management is not just looking at Bangladesh, they are looking at Australia where previous experience matters.”
