India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant put on his bowling shoes instead of his wicket-keeping gloves and bowled an over during a Delhi Premier League match between his team, Purani Dilli 6, and Delhi Superstarz on Saturday. The wicket-keeper bowled the final over of the match, even though the game was already out of reach.
Delhi Superstarz needed just one run in the final over, and they won the match on the first ball by scoring a single.
Fans quickly noticed that under Gautam Gambhir’s leadership, some Indian players are now taking on bowling duties. Rinku Singh, known for his finishing skills with the bat, bowled for India during their recent tour of Sri Lanka.
A grand opening ceremony was held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium before the match, with Bollywood actress Sonam Bajwa being one of the main highlights.
The opening ceremony was attended by top officials from the Delhi & District Cricket Association, franchise owners, players, and members of all the men’s and women’s teams. During the event, DDCA honored Delhi cricketers Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli for their important roles in India’s T20 World Cup victory earlier this year.
