Indian Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has given a controversial statement after the Test series loss against New Zealand. It was the first time in the last 12 years that team India lost a red-ball series at home. On Saturday, New Zealand won the match by 113 runs to take an unbeatable lead of 0-2 against India.

The match was played at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium where Kiwis dominated the team India like never before and outplayed them in all the three departments.

The India Cricket Team performed poorly in the first two Tests against the New Zealand National Cricket Team, leading to a series loss with one match left to play. This has resulted in a lot of criticism for the team, especially since their last home Test series loss was against England in 2012.

After the loss, Rohit Sharma made a surprising comment, saying that they were allowed to have a collapse. He noted that if they often collapsed, they wouldn’t have had a 12-year winning streak at home. He also mentioned that people expect them to win every game in India.

“Humko 12 saal mein ek baar to allowed hai yaar. Itna collapses agar 12 saal se ho raha tha toh shayad hum jeet hi nahi hai paate. India me humara expectations bahut rehta hai, ki hum jo bhi match khelenge, jeetna he hai. Humne hi aadat banaya hai wo, aap logo ka galti nahi hai, itna accha cricket Indian team ne khela hai to wo expectations ek level ke uppar chala gaya hai,” Rohit Sharma said.

(We are allowed one such performance in 12 years. If we were collapsing like this on a regular basis then we would not have been winning at home. We have a lot of expectations. We are expected to win every game at our home, and it is because of our performances).”

Rohit Sharma’s Bizzare Statement

Rohit Sharma and his team had a terrible batting performance, which was the main reason they lost badly in the second Test. After New Zealand scored 259 runs, India couldn’t reach that total.

The India National Cricket Team got all out for just 156 runs, giving New Zealand a lead of more than 100 runs. After that, India couldn’t get early wickets, and the visitors ended up with a big lead of over 350 runs. It was expected that India would do better with the bat in their second innings.

Unfortunately, things didn’t improve for Rohit Sharma and his team, as they put in another poor performance. Rohit was out for just 8 runs. After him, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill added 62 runs for the second wicket, with Gill scoring 23 runs.

After that, Mitchell Santner dominated the Indian batters once again, taking five wickets in the match. Ravichandran Ashwin managed to score 18 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja contributed with a useful 42 runs, forming a 39-run partnership with Ashwin. However, despite their efforts, India couldn’t reach New Zealand’s total.

The team’s struggles with the bat continued, and they were all out without surpassing the score set by New Zealand, leading to another disappointing result in the series. Overall, it was a frustrating day for the Indian team as they failed to perform under pressure once again.

Now Rohit Sharma and his team will play the next match against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. It is the final match of the series. According to the calculation, India has to win their upcoming four matches out of six to make into the finals of the World Test Championship, without being dependent on any of the other teams.
