Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan was included among 61 players selected for the 2024 Duleep Trophy. This decision sparked discussion, with many suggesting that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel is closely monitoring him, hinting that he could soon make a return to the Indian team.
The upcoming Duleep Trophy is important for the Bangladesh series. Players who do well in the tournament are likely to be selected for India’s squad in the Bangladesh Tests.
Before the competition begins, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has issued a strong warning to Ishan Kishan.
Kishan hasn’t played for India since the T20I series against Australia in November 2023. Although he was included in the South Africa tour, he chose to return home halfway through due to personal reasons.
The talented keeper did not take part in the domestic competition, even though the BCCI had requested him to. Because of this, he was taken off the central contract list.
The wicket-keeper is currently playing in the Buchi Babu Tournament for Jharkhand. He scored a century against Madhya Pradesh and is off to a strong start in his effort to get back into the Indian team.
