India’s participation in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy happening in Pakistan is uncertain. Meanwhile, former cricketer Danish Kaneria suggested that India skip the tournament in Pakistan.
Due to political tensions between the countries, India did not travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup. As a result, the tournament was held in a hybrid format and Pakistan and Sri Lanka were chosen as the hosts.
While talking to Sports Tak, Kaneria said, “Look at the situation in Pakistan I have to say that the Indian team should not go to Pakistan, and Pakistan should think about it.”
“The ICC will make their decision and most likely Champions Trophy will be played in a hybrid model in Dubai. The safety of the players is the first priority. Respect is the second priority. I think BCCI is doing a great job. Whatever their decision is, other countries will also have to accept that. I think it will be a hybrid model” Kaneria added.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has invested in upgrading the stadiums and improving the infrastructure to be ready for hosting games in the Champions Trophy.
kaneria ended, “They’re (PCB) equipped but they must upgrade the infrastructure first. Security is the biggest concern, a big question mark.”
