Sanju Samson’s father, Vishwanath Samson, has accused iconic figures in Indian cricket, including Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, and Rohit Sharma, of destroying his son’s career by not giving him regular chances to play in international matches.
Sanju is currently in South Africa for a four-match T20I series, where he scored a century in the first game but got out for zero in the second and third games of the series.
Sanju Samson’s Father Allegation On Dhoni, Virat And Rohit
In a recent interview with Kerala news outlet Media One, Vishwanath shared his frustration, saying he feels his son lost ten years of career opportunities. He specifically blamed former captains MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, as well as former coach Rahul Dravid, for making choices that he believes limited Sanju’s international career.
“There are 3-4 people who wasted 10 years of my son’s vital career… captains like Dhoni ji, Virat [Kohli] ji, Rohit [Sharma] ji, and coach [Rahul] Dravid ji,” he said, adding that they had “destroyed 10 years of my son’s life.”
Besides criticizing the current and former Indian team leaders, Sanju’s father also criticized former cricketer Kris Srikkanth, accusing him of not giving enough credit to Sanju’s achievements, especially after his first T20I century against Bangladesh.
“The more they hurt him, the stronger Sanju comes out of the crisis.”
“What hurt me really badly was comments from [Kris] Srikkanth, the player from Tamil Nadu. Against whom did Sanju score a century? It was only Bangladesh. A century is a century, and that guy has scored only 26 runs against Bangladesh. Sanju has scored a hundred and he is a player with a classical touch like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. At least respect that.”
Sanju Samson As The Captain For Rajasthan Royals
Apart from international matches, Sanju Samson has been the captain of Rajasthan Royals for a couple of years and he also took his team to the final of the tournament in 2022 where they lost the mega clash against the then-made newly-franchised Gujarat Titans. In 2023, they finished in fifth position while in 2024 they secured third position in the points table.
