Rohit Sharma’s Reaction to Suryakumar’s Historic Catch Goes Viral, Video Will Give You Goosebumps!

The T20 World Cup Final saw a historic catch by Suryakumar Yadav that remains etched in everyone’s memories. A video of Team India captain Rohit Sharma’s reaction to that catch is going viral.

Four days have passed since the T20 World Cup Final 2024, but every day brings new updates and angles on Suryakumar Yadav’s historic catch. A new video of Suryakumar’s catch, showcasing Rohit Sharma’s reaction, is now viral and well-received by fans.

In the video, Rohit Sharma is seen standing near the long-on boundary. As Hardik’s delivery is hit for a lofted shot by Miller, Rohit’s eyes follow the ball. Initially, Rohit looks disappointed, seemingly convinced that the ball would clear the boundary. When Suryakumar attempts to take the catch, Rohit watches intently while crouching down. Suryakumar’s brilliant presence ensured he completed the catch, bringing a sigh of relief to Rohit.

Suryakumar Narrates the Story

Suryakumar Yadav himself narrated the story of David Miller’s incredible catch. In an interview with Devendra Pandey of the English newspaper Indian Express, Suryakumar Yadav shared that he had practiced a lot to take such catches. He explained,

“Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya had set the field for a wide yorker, and I was positioned a bit wide at long-off. Typically, Rohit Bhai does not stand at long-on, but he was there at that moment. When the ball was coming, I glanced at him for a second. I ran to catch it. If Rohit was nearby, I would have tossed the ball to him, but he was far. Those 4-5 seconds were indescribable.”

Suryakumar mentioned that when he caught the ball and tossed it, his feet did not touch the boundary rope. According to him, even if the ball had gone for six, the Indian team might still have won the match, though it would have required intense effort. Notably, Suryakumar’s catch was a significant factor in India’s spectacular victory. India won the match by 7 runs.
