Rohit Sharma Gives Strong Message To Indian Players Ahead Of ODI Series Against Sri Lanka

India captain Rohit Sharma urged the players to leave behind their 2024 T20 World Cup victory in the West Indies and the USA. He emphasized that it’s now crucial to focus on the upcoming tournaments.

The Men in Blue went undefeated throughout the World Cup. After winning the trophy, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement.

India won their next two T20I series, defeating Zimbabwe 4-1 and sweeping Sri Lanka 3-0.

“I took a break after winning the World Cup. It was a great feeling to be among our fans in India after lifting the trophy. But we have to move on and we can’t stay in the past. The celebrations were for that particular period. Time doesn’t stop and we also need to keep moving forward,” Rohit Sharma said ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

After Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket, Suryakumar Yadav was named India’s T20I captain. However, Rohit will still captain the team in One Day Internationals and Test matches.

“Indian cricket is more important. If you lose a match, it is fine. You are allowed to concede a contest if you don’t compromise on the standard. There is no problem in losing while trying out something different.”
