Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli To Back In Domestic Cricket? Here Is The Report

India’s captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli are anticipated to play in the Duleep Trophy ahead of the two-Test series against Bangladesh. This series is crucial for India’s chances of making it to the World Test Championship final for the third consecutive time. As reported by The Indian Express, the senior selection committee has instructed all eligible players to participate in the upcoming domestic tournament.

The report states that besides Sharma and Kohli, several other leading Indian cricketers like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav have been asked to take part in the upcoming tournament.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not play in the Duleep Trophy, as he has been given an extended rest after IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup. This rest is meant to help manage his workload.

The BCCI is thinking about holding one round of the Duleep Trophy at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru because the original location, Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, doesn’t have flight access.

The Duleep Trophy is set to take place from September 5 to September 24, but the first Test between India and Bangladesh is scheduled for September 19 in Chennai. This overlap means senior Indian players who make it to the Duleep Trophy finals might not be available for the Test match.
