Ravindra Jadeja has retired from international T20 cricket, after the successful T20 World Cup campaign this year. Meanwhile, the cricketer has entered into politics by joining the BJP. His wife Rivaba Jadeja, who is a BJP MLA from Gujarat, made the announcement.
On Thursday, Ms. Jadeja posted pictures on X showing both her and Ravindra Jadeja’s BJP membership cards. Her post highlighted the BJP ‘sadasyata abhiyan’ (membership campaign) that started on September 2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also renewed his party membership on the same day as part of the drive.
Rivaba Jadeja became a member of the BJP in 2019 and ran for the Gujarat Assembly elections in 2022 from the Jamnagar North seat. Ravindra Jadeja supported her campaign, and she secured a victory with a margin of more than 50,000 votes.
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde announced on Thursday that more than 10 million people had signed up for the party within three days of the membership criteria being given.
“There is tremendous enthusiasm among the countrymen and workers about this campaign. The number of members is certainly going to reach record levels in the coming days,” he posted in Hindi on X.
