A report by the Dhaka Tribune says a murder case has been filed against Shakib Al Hasan, an all-rounder for the Bangladesh cricket team. Rafiqul Islam filed the case after his son Rubel was killed on August 7 during protests in Bangladesh.
The report mentioned that Rubel was participating in a rally on Ring Road in Adabor when he was shot in the chest and abdomen. He was taken to the hospital immediately after the incident but died on August 7.
The case was filed at Adabor police station in Dhaka, naming Shakib as the 28th accused and popular Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed as the 55th accused. Both of them were former members of parliament from the Awami League.
The case also included former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 154 other individuals. Additionally, the report mentioned that 400-500 unidentified people were accused as well.
On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named former captain Faruque Ahmed as its new president. This change happened after Nazmul Hassan, who was a close ally of the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, stepped down.
