The former captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team Inzamam Ul Haq has encouraged the Indian team to come to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. He assured that if the Indian team visits the Pakistan Cricket Board will take care of everything.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has made it very clear that the men in blue under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma will not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. On November 10, Sunday, BCCI officials gave a notice to the ICC describing the same which was later passed to the Pakistan Cricket Board.
“The PCB has received an email from the ICC, stating that the BCCI has informed them that their team will not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB has forwarded that email to the Government of Pakistan for their advice and guidance,” a PCB spokesperson said.
Inzamam was disappointed after hearing the news and said that if India visits the nation, Pakistan’s fans will get another kind of enjoyment from seeing them playing cricket.
“They are depriving cricket of such a big occasion. There is no threat to the Indian team in Pakistan. In fact, they would get the best hospitality here,” PTI quoted Inzamam as saying.
India has not sent its cricket team to Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup. However, Pakistan has come to India for a white-ball series in 2012-13, the T20 World Cup in 2016, and last year for the 50-over World Cup.
Former Test Cricketer Mohsin Khan stressed that politics and cricket should not go hand in hand.
“I mean does the Indian government really believe there is any threat to their team in Pakistan? But I would advise on remaining calm before making any decision,” he noted.
The Champions Trophy is coming back after 8 years where top 8 international teams will participate. Pakistan is set to host the 2025 tournament, and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has often said that India must come to Pakistan if they want to play against them.
