In this match, South Africa won the toss and invited India to bat first. While batting first, India had a poor start where they lost Sanju Samson who returned to the Pavilion without scoring a single run. Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma then took command of the batting and brought India to track. Abhishek returned to Pavilion after scoring 50 runs in 25 balls, where Tilak Varma got a solid hundred and scored 107 runs with the help of eight fours and seven sixes.
South Africa batters tried their best but could not get over the Indian score. Everyone got the start but failed to convert it into a big score due to the impressive bowling of Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy. Marco Jansen scored 50 runs in 17 balls but could not take his team to the finishing line.
