The Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is now looking to make a strong comeback to the Test Cricket Team. The star batter is taking part in the Buchi Babu Tournament and will also play in the Duleep Trophy to draw the attention of the selectors before the home Test series.
SKY has appeared in 82 first-class matches for Mumbai but was dropped from the Test squad after playing only one match against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2023. He managed just eight runs in that inning before being excluded by the selectors.
While talking to Sportstar, Suryakumar Yadav said, “Red-ball cricket is my priority. When I started playing cricket, I played with the red ball. The love for the five-match day format started there and has been there since then. I have been playing first-class cricket for more than 10 years, and I still enjoy playing the format. That’s why I will be playing the Duleep Trophy.”
India has many strong players in the Test team. If Suryakumar does well in domestic cricket, he might get a chance to return to the Test squad.
“Players have done well to be a part of the Test team and I also want my spot back. I made my debut against Australia, and after that, I got injured. Several players were given chances, and they have done well. They deserve to play for the country,” he said.
He is on Team C, which will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Duleep Trophy 2024.
