Before IPL 2025, all the IPL franchises will go through a major change. It is being reported that Kolkata Knight Riders are now looking to replace Gautam Gambhir with the designation of a mentor.
As reported by the Telegraph on Thursday, September 5, 2024, the IPL champions are in discussions with the former Sri Lankan star Kumar Sangakkara who served Rajasthan Royals for years.
According to sources from the Telegraph, Sangakkara has been the director of cricket for Rajasthan Royals since 2021, and has decided to leave the team. He is considering offers from other franchises, and a decision about possibly joining Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is expected soon.
The former Indian head coach Rahul Dravid is poised to take over as the new head coach of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Additionally, there are rumors that Vikram Rathour, the ex-batting coach for India, could also join Dravid at the Royals.
Currently, the former Indian cricketer Chandrakant Pandit is now the head coach for KKR in the IPL. Bharat Arun, the former Indian bowling coach, is the bowling coach for the team owned by Shah Rukh Khan. However, fielding coach Ryan ten Doeschate and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar have left KKR to become assistant coaches with the Indian national team.
