EXCLUSIVE: Samoa Batter Breaks Chris Gayle And Yuvraj Singh’s Record, Smashed These Many Runs In a Single Over

In an exciting match at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A, Darius Visser made history in men’s T20I cricket.

Visser smashed six sixes while Vanuatu’s Nalin Nipiko bowled three no-balls, resulting in an incredible 39 runs being scored in the 15th over of the match in Apia, Samoa. This set a new record for the most runs in a single over in men’s T20I cricket.

Visser broke the previous record held by Yuvraj Singh, who scored 36 runs in an over during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup against Stuart Broad. He also outdid similar achievements by Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, and Dipendra Singh Airee, who have scored 36 runs in an over.

Visser began the over by hitting three consecutive sixes, followed by another six off the fourth legal ball. After a dot ball, he hit another six from the third no-ball and finished with one more six, breaking the record and becoming the first Samoan player to score a century in international cricket.

Visser’s outstanding performance, which included 14 sixes, led to a score of 132 from just 62 balls, helping Samoa secure their second win in the tournament and keeping their chances alive for qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
