In the summer of 1962, Javed Burki captained Pakistan in a five-match Test series against England. He suffered defeats in the first three matches before finally securing a draw in the fourth Test.
Shan Masood began his Test captaincy for Pakistan against Australia in Perth last year. He lost his first four matches by margins of 360 runs, 79 runs, 8 wickets, and 10 wickets. The first three defeats were against Australia in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney, while the 10-wicket loss happened against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Sunday, August 25.
The loss in Rawalpindi marked the first time in Test history that Pakistan was defeated by Bangladesh. Before this match, Pakistan had won 12 out of the 13 Tests played against Bangladesh.
In the Rawalpindi Test, Pakistan declared their first innings at 448 for 6, but this decision backfired when Bangladesh scored 565 runs and took a lead of 117 runs. In their second innings, Pakistan’s batters struggled and were bowled out for just 146 runs in 55.5 overs.
