Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the three-match T20I series against Scotland after sustaining a calf injury during a net session. However, the Australian team has announced his replacement. Pacer Riley Meredith has been included in the squad following his impressive performances for Somerset in the T20 Blast.
Hazlewood’s injury is not that serious and the bowler is expected to play in the white-ball series against England. He will also be required for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Earlier, left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson from Australia was ruled out of the matches against Scotland and England. Sean Abbott was chosen as his replacement.
Australia has decided to rest its star bowlers for the Scotland tour. In place of them Zavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, and Aaron Hardie have made their place in the squad.
Riley Meredith has played in one ODI and five T20Is for Australia. The right-arm fast bowler has taken eight wickets in T20Is. His most recent match was against the West Indies. The Australia tour of Scotland is set to begin on September 4.
