The BCCI is reportedly looking to introduce a change in the rule that allows two bouncers per over. It was first introduced in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season and later in the IPL.
The change was made to maintain a fair balance between batting and bowling since there were concerns that cricket, especially in the shortest format, was becoming too favorable for batters.
The review of the bouncers-per-over rule is adding to the board’s issues, along with the Impact Player rule, which had mixed reactions during the IPL season.
According to a report from Cricbuzz, an official stated, “We understand that Impact Player and two bouncer rules are the key points and no decision has been taken.”
While the two-bouncer rule was well-received, the Impact Player rule wasn’t widely accepted by them. Some people want it removed because they think it might discourage the use of all-rounders, affecting their growth and development.
In the last season of the Indian Premier League, people saw some exciting matches, however, the impact player rule generated a kind of controversy. Even players like Rohit Sharma used this facility.
