James Anderson Reveals Why He Registered For IPL 2025 Mega Auction

The veteran England pacer James Anderson has retired from International cricket but he has surprised everyone with his latest decision of participating in the IPL 2025. The former English pacer has registered his name for the mega auction of IPL set to happen on November 24th and 25th of this month.

His last List-A game was in 2019. However, the Lancashire player remains motivated and believes he can still contribute, even though his chances in Test cricket are over.

While promoting his new book on BBC Radio 4’s Today Program ‘Finding The Edge’ on BBC Radio, Anderson said, “There’s still something in me that thinks I can still play.”

“I’ve never experienced the IPL, so for a number of reasons I feel I have more to give as a player.”

“I have done a little bit of coaching since I finished in the summer. I have been around the England team. I’ve done a bit of mentoring, or whatever you’d like to call it. Opening my eyes to something like that, experiencing it, might help me grow my knowledge of the game and help me further down the line,” Anderson added.

Anderson was one of 1,574 players, including 52 from England, who registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction. This is just the first list, and it will be cut down, with only 204 spots open.
