VIDEO: Rishabh Pant Dismissal Controversy, Mumbai Crowd Errupts With ‘Cheater’ Chants

India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was given out in a controversial decision during the second innings of the third Test match between India and New Zealand in Mumbai. This was an important moment because Pant was trying hard to help India stay in the game.

In the 22nd over, Pant stepped forward to hit a ball from Ajaz Patel but was not close enough to connect well. The ball missed his bat, touched his pad, and bounced into the air.

Wicketkeeper Tom Blundell caught the ball, and New Zealand made a loud appeal. The on-field umpire did not give Pant out. Seeing how important the wicket was, Tom Latham used New Zealand’s last review. The UltraEdge replay showed a small spike as the ball passed the bat, but it was not clear if the ball touched the bat or just the pad.

Third umpire Paul Reiffel decided in New Zealand’s favor and told the on-field umpire, Richard Illingworth, to change his call. Pant was very unhappy as he slowly walked off the field. The crowd in Mumbai was angry and started chanting “cheater, cheater” in protest.

In this match, New Zealand beat India by 25 runs. With this New Zealand has won this three-match Test series by 3-0 and India has got another setback while moving ahead in the Worlds Test Championship tournament.
