For the IPL 2025 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) could look at strong candidates for captain. In IPL 2024, South African batting legend Faf du Plessis was the captain of the side but now RCB will look to get a strong skipper due to the mega auction happening at the end of November. In this segment, we will look after those three-star players who could be the perfect choice for RCB as captain of the side.

1. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is known for his fearless attitude. He has already shown he can lead well as Delhi Capitals’ (DC) captain. His aggressive style and ability to set an example for his team could fit perfectly with RCB’s bold approach. Pant’s experience as an IPL captain and his ability to handle pressure would bring fresh energy to RCB. Pant is coming back from an injury, so his fitness and form might need to be checked. Still, while playing in IPL 2024, Pant scored 446 runs in 13 matches at an average of 40.54.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul has shown calm and steady leadership with both Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Having played for RCB before, he knows the team well, making it easier to adapt. Rahul is a reliable batsman and can play in different roles, making him a key player if RCB wants a stable leader. Rahul’s style as captain has been seen as a bit cautious, so RCB would need to decide if this fits their plans. While Captaining LSG in their inaugural season, KL Rahul took the team to the playoffs and it could be an advantage for RCB to get an experienced captain.

3. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer did a great job leading Delhi Capitals and then Kolkata Knight Riders where the KKR lifted the IPL trophy in 2024 beating Sunrirsers Hyderabad in the final. Iyer is one of the most dependable youngster and taking him as captain will defintely make a difference for the team. It was back in 2016 when RCB made into the final under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Iyer’s steady mindset and good planning skills make him a strong candidate. Iyer is known for staying calm under pressure, which would be valuable as RCB’s leader. Iyer has also had injuries, so RCB would need to make sure he is fully fit.
