Mohammad Rizwan To Become Next Pakistan Captain, Babar Azam Reacted

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is about to announce Mohammad Rizwan as the new captain of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket teams, with sources from Geo News indicating the official announcement will come soon.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reportedly held an important meeting with Rizwan, where it was decided that he would lead both the ODI and T20I teams. Head coach Gary Kirsten and the national selectors supported Rizwan’s appointment, valuing his leadership experience and steady performance. All-rounder Salman Ali Agha is expected to be named vice-captain for the white-ball squads.

Rizwan has strong captaincy experience, having led several domestic teams, including the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He guided Multan to their first PSL title in 2021, defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the final. Rizwan’s ability to handle high-pressure games and motivate his teammates makes him a great choice for Pakistan’s leadership.

This leadership change follows Babar Azam’s recent decision to step down as captain of Pakistan’s white-ball teams.

While leaving the captaincy Babar said,”I want to prioritise my performance, enjoy my batting, and spend quality time with my family, which brings me joy.”

Making Mohammad Rizwan captain is expected to bring new energy to Pakistan’s white-ball teams, thanks to his active style and focus on team unity. Known for his toughness and discipline, Rizwan’s way of leading aligns well with the PCB’s aim to build a strong and balanced team for the future.
