MS Dhoni Will Play IPL 2025 And 3 More Seasons For CSK

The celebrated Indian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has hinted that he wants to keep playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025 and beyond. At 43 years old, Dhoni has responded to all the rumors about his future by saying he is working hard to stay fit for cricket for the “next few years.”

According to his words, CSK does not only want him to play in the IPL 2025, but they want to keep Dhoni with them for more three-four years.

What did MS Dhoni say?

According to the Times of India, while speaking at the promotional event for software brand Rigi, Dhoni said, “I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play.”

“When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy. The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” said Dhoni.

Dhoni’s comments made it even clearer that he is thinking about the IPL.

“I have to keep myself fit for nine months so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit,” Dhoni said.

Dhoni handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to Ruturaj Gaikwad before IPL 2024. Even so, since he has won the IPL five times and is still a major name in the tournament, having him around would be great for the IPL.

Dhoni hasn’t played for the Indian team in over five years, so CSK can keep him as an uncapped player for only Rs 4 crore. This is possible because a rule that was taken away in 2021 has now been brought back.
