Babar Azam has been having a tough time in international cricket for a while now. Over the past year, he has struggled to maintain consistent form, and his poor performances with the bat have affected Pakistan’s results in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. However, even after such an average form, his supporters keep comparing him with the batting legend Virat Kohli.
Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria said that fans of Babar Azam should stop comparing him to Virat Kohli.
While talking to Sports Tak, Kaneria said, “Who is playing this comparison game? I am tired of these comparisons. Look at the runs Virat Kohli has scored across the globe. He is a big player.”
Kaneria said that Kohli is far ahead of the former Pakistan captain in terms of runs, media credits and everything.
“Virat Kohli is a legend, and when he walks out to bat, his aura is on a different level. Babar is not even close to Virat forget about comparing the two. Channels for the TRP purpose create all this hype. I never entertained questions on the comparison of the two. Look at the numbers. When they both retire from international cricket, you can check their stats,” he added.
Apart from this Danish Kaneria has also asked team India not to play in Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy due to security issues.
He asserted, “The situation is bad in Pakistan, and I don’t want India to come here for the Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will be played in a hybrid model for sure. The media gets hype, but in reality, it will be a hybrid model.”
