As the talks about IPL player retention heat up, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants KL Rahul went to the team’s office in Kolkata on Monday to meet with the owner, Sanjiv Goenka. This meeting took place at Goenka’s office on Judges Court Road in Alipore and reportedly went for more than an hour.
This meeting was the first official discussion between Rahul and Goenka since their intense conversation after losing to SunRisers Hyderabad on May 8.
While nothing is out from the meeting according to a report from Cricbuzz, both have discussed the captain’s role for LSG in IPL 2025 as well and the wicket-keeper batter will possibly be retained for the next season of IPL as well.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t released the official retention rules yet, so it’s still uncertain how many players each team can keep. Additionally, the Right to Match (RTM) option could also impact a team’s choices on top retention.
Rahul has been the captain of LSG for three seasons. He recently played for India’s ODI team during their tour of Sri Lanka.
