According to the latest report coming out from the cricket field, the successful franchise of Indian Premier League Kolkata Knight Riders is planning to change their captain in the upcoming season of IPL 2025. As per Sportskeeda, the current champions have made an informal proposal to the Indian T20I captain. It means KKR may move on from Shreyas Iyer under whom they won their third IPL victory in 2024.
Suryakumar Yadav’s career has taken off recently, with the Indian team making him the captain in T20 matches.
Yadav spent several years with Kolkata Knight Riders before moving to Mumbai Indians. While the Knight Riders didn’t fully utilize his skills, he showcased his talent and excellence with Mumbai in the lucrative league.
Suryakumar Yadav has been a crucial member of Mumbai Indians over the years. He has consistently scored runs for the five-time champions. Although SKY was a top candidate to succeed Rohit Sharma as captain of Mumbai Indians, the owners and management picked Hardik Pandya as its captain.
This decision was not well received by Rohit, SKY, and Jasprit Bumrah. Rohit and Suryakumar are expected to depart from Mumbai ahead of the mega auction.
In 150 IPL matches, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 3,594 runs, maintaining an average of 32.38 and a strike rate of 145.33. His impressive career includes 2 centuries, 24 fifties, 385 boundaries, and 130 sixes.
