The budding Indian left-handed sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal will once again be up in the action for India B for the Duleep Trophy 2024. The first match of the season will be played between India A and India B on September 5. India A is being led by Shubman Gill and the match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Bengaluru.
In this tournament, the 22-year-old batter will have a chance to create history. If Jaiswal scores one more double century, he will become the first-ever batter to score three double centuries in the history of the tournament.
Since making his Test debut for India against the West Indies in Dominica last year, Jaiswal has delivered outstanding performances in the Duleep Trophy. While playing for West Zone, he has already amassed two double centuries in just three matches, both coming during the 2022 edition of the esteemed domestic competition.
Jaiswal showcased his batting prowess by scoring a commanding 228 from 321 balls in the quarterfinal against North East Zone in Chennai. He followed this with an even more impressive 265 from 323 balls in the final against South Zone in Coimbatore.
To date, six batters have scored double centuries for the two time in the Duleep Trophy. Arun Lal was the first batter to reach this milestone. In 1986, he scored 214 and 287 runs playing for East Zone. Lalchand Rajput was the second batter to do this feat. Yuvraj Singh and Manish Pandey are also there in this elite list.
