The mega auction for IPL 2025 will happen very soon and fans are expecting the former Indian player MS Dhoni to play once again for the Chennai Super Kings. Although, Dhoni is no longer the skipper of the side, his fan following has seen rapid growth.
It’s possible that we saw Dhoni play his last IPL match when CSK missed to make into the playoffs after losing a close encounter to RCB. In that game, RCB’s left-arm pacer Yash Dayal took Dhoni’s wicket, which ended CSK’s chances of moving ahead into the next stage of the game. Later, Dayal shared that he felt bad about dismissing Dhoni, as many believed it might have been Dhoni’s final IPL season.
While talking to the YouTube channel of Jatin Sapru, Dhoni said, “I felt bad after dismissing him. Because I don’t know or care what people say but the frustration with which he left the ground, it was like you don’t know whether he will return or not. Will we ever see him again on the ground? It was a moment where a lot of things were going through my head. I got a breather, a bit of relief.”
Dayal had the tough task of defending 17 runs in the final over to secure RCB’s spot in the eliminator. His first delivery was a mistaken full toss that was hit for a massive six. Surprisingly, this turned out to be an advantage, as the new ball gave him a better grip. On the next delivery, he bowled a slower ball, and Dhoni was caught in the deep by Swapnil Singh. He later shared details of a conversation he had with Virat Kohli after dismissing Dhoni.
“With 11 runs needed off 4, I was like why am I even looking at the scoreboard. I shouldn’t. I should just focus on my bowling. Shardul bhai was on strike. Virat bhai said, ‘don’t give pace, nor bowl right onto his bat’. I told him right now it’s like peanut butter falling from top. Anywhere I want to bowl, I will I have so much confidence,” the 26-year-old recalled.
