The destructive batter of the England cricket team Harry Brook will now lead the England men’s cricket team in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. Jos Buttler is sidelined due to injury. Buttler has been dealing with a right calf issue due to which he also missed the T20 series and The Hundred.
Buttler is still unfit to play for the upcoming five-match ODI series. Additionally, left-arm fast bowler Josh Hull has been pulled out of the squad because of a quad injury.
All-rounder Liam Livingstone played a key role in England’s victory over Australia in the second T20 in Cardiff and has been included in the 15-man squad. The first ODI will be held at Trent Bridge on Thursday, 19 September.
Jos Buttler About His Injury
While talking about his injury to SKy Sports, Buttler said, “It is a shame to miss some cricket but I want to get it right and there is lots to look forward to in the future.”
He further added,”I want this to be the most enjoyable part of my career.”
The 25-year-old Harry Brook has made a strong impression in his short international career, though he has shined more in Test and T20 cricket compared to the one-day format, where he averages 29.07 from 15 innings.
With Buttler injured, Harry Brook, who made his ODI debut just 18 months ago, gets the chance to captain England for the first time.
