On this day in Asia Cup 2023, star Indian batter Virat Kohli smashes a solid hundred against the arch-rivals Pakistan. The match was played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
It was the third match of the Super 4 round in Asia, right before the starting of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Babar Azam, the skipper of the Pakistan cricket team won the toss and invited India to bat first. It was After team India got a flying start from the openers Rohit Sharma(56) and Shubman Gill(58), Virat Kohli also joined the party after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma.
Kohli went on going against the Pakistan bowlers right from the very first ball and completed his century in 84 balls. Along with another dashing batter KL Rahul who got 111 runs, Kohli scored 122 runs off 94 balls with the help of nine fours and three massive sixes.
Kohli scored most of the runs against Faheem Ashraf and gathered 39 runs against him. Against Shaheen Afridi he got 21 runs while Naseem Shah also turned out to be a bit expensive and he got 23 runs.
In this match, India posted a total of 356 runs at the loss of two wickets. While chasing the target, Pakistan was bundled out for 128 runs in just 32 overs.
For India in bowling, the Chinaman Kuldeep Yadab got the maximum five wickets.
