Indian cricket fans are eagerly looking forward to the highly anticipated return of fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been out of action due to a knee injury. After his brilliant performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, Shami underwent surgery and has been recovering ever since. It was originally expected that he would make his comeback for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in November, but a recent update has caused concern among fans.

According to a report by the Times of India, Shami has developed a swollen knee, which is expected to take another six to eight weeks to fully heal. With this news, now the participation of Mohammed Shami in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy seems difficult.

According to TOI, a BCCI source asserted, “Shami had resumed bowling, and he was looking on track to make a comeback to competitive cricket soon. But this knee injury has flared up recently. BCCI’s medical team is assessing the injury, but it may require quite a bit of time.”

“It’s a jolt for the NCA medical team. They have been working on him for over a year. They have one of the best workload management systems in place. The medical team is trying its best to put him back in the park soon.”

The first match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2024 will start on November 26. The match will be played at the iconic Perth Stadium.
