SMAT 2024: Delhi Made History, Becomes 1st Team To Use 11 Bowlers In a T20 Inning

Delhi made history by becoming the first team in T20 cricket to use all 11 players as bowlers in one match. This happened in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Manipur on Friday, November 29, at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Captain Ayush Badoni bowled two overs, took the wicket of Chingakham Bidash, and even bowled one over without giving any runs.

Delhi won the match by four wickets and kept their unbeaten streak in the tournament. They are at the top of Group C with 16 points and a net run rate of +1.765, winning all four of their matches so far.

Delhi bowled first and limited Manipur to 120 runs for eight wickets. They quickly reduced Manipur to 41 for six in 9.1 overs, as five of their top six batters couldn’t score more than single digits.

Skipper Rex Singh and Ahmed Shah helped Manipur bounce back with a solid 52-run stand for the seventh wicket. Rex made 23 runs off 18 balls, hitting two fours and a six. Ahmed Shah played a crucial role, smashing four sixes in his 32 runs from 30 balls.

For Delhi, Harsh Tyagi and Digvesh Rathi bowled well, taking two wickets each. Aayush Singh, captain Ayush Badoni, and Priyansh Arya chipped in with one wicket each.

Later, Yash Dhull, who had led India to victory in the U19 World Cup in 2022, played a key innings. He stayed not out with 59 runs off 51 balls, hitting eight fours and a six.

Thanks to Dhull’s brilliant batting, Delhi successfully chased the target of 121 runs with nine balls to spare. Despite losing four wickets for 44 runs in 6.4 overs, Dhull took the team to victory.
