Ritika Sajdeh, wife of star cricketer Rohit Sharma Rohit thanked Aaron Finch for supporting the Indian captain. Ritika mentioned Finch in an Instagram post showing how he disagreed with Sunil Gavaskar about Rohit taking paternity leave during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Interestingly, Ritika and Rohit are expecting their second child.
Finch didn’t agree with Gavaskar’s comments. Gavaskar had said that if Rohit misses more than one game, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah should captain the team for the whole series. However, Finch believed that Rohit should be with his wife, as it’s an important time for their family.
While Rohit hasn’t confirmed the reason for his possible absence, it’s widely thought that he and his wife Ritika Sajdeh are expecting their second child.
“I disagree with Sunny on that totally. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian cricket team. If you need to stay at home because your wife’s going to have a baby that’s such a beautiful moment and you take all the time that you need in that regard,” Finch said on Around the Wicket show in ESPNcricinfo.

Ritika expressed her support for Finch’s comments on Friday, November 8, clearly sharing her view on the issue. Earlier, Abhinav Mukund had mentioned during the New Zealand Test series that Rohit and Ritika were expecting a child, so Rohit might not play the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
If Rohit does not play, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to captain the Indian team. The first match between India and Australia will be played from November 22 and BCCI has already announced the squad for the series.
