A video going around on social media shows a serious conversation between captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Though the exact topic of their talk isn’t clear, their body language and facial expressions reflect a kind of disagreement. It is possible thing that they might be talking about the loss against New Zealand in the first Test played at M Chinnasswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Batting coach Abhishek Nayar also joined the conversation, increasing the speculation around the viral video. Many fans speculated that the discussion was about the toss call, which played an important role in deciding the result of the match.

As we know India opted to bat first in overcast conditions, which resulted in the collapse of the batting order against a powerful pace attack of Kiwis.

India vs New Zealand 1st Test 2024, played at Chinnaswamy Stadium went in the favour of the visitors where NZ beat India by eight wickets. The match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium was purely dominated by Kiwis in all the departments and as a result they secured their first-ever Test win in India in the last 36 years.

While chasing the target of 107 runs, New Zealand only lost two wickets – Tom Latham and Devon Conway. After their dismissal, Will Young and Rachin Ravindra took the Kiwis home with their 48 and 39 runs respectively. For India, Bumrah got two wickets.

In this match, Rain interrupted a lot, and it was surprising to see Team India opting to bat first in overcast conditions. The Kiwi bowlers broke through the Indian batting lineup and bowled out the Indian on just 46 runs in the first innings. Apart from Rishabh Pant(20) and Yashasvi Jaiswal(13), none of the Indian batters adjusted themselves at the crease.

For New Zealand, Matt Henry got the maximum 5 wickets, the youngster O’Rourke bagged four wickets while Tim Southee managed to get one in his kitty.

In the first inning, New Zealand came strongly with the bat where Rachin Ravindra smashed a solid hundred and played a knock of 134 runs. Devon Conway also smashed 91 runs while Tim Southee scored a half-century (65). With the help of these batters, New Zealand hung 402 runs on the board.

Indian bowling revolved around Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja who got three wickets each. On the other hand, Siraj got two in his kitty, and Bumrah and Ashwin managed to get one wicket each.

Rishabh Pant in the second innings for India, along with Sarfaraz Khan tried their best to make a comeback. Sarfaraz scored 150 runs while Pant was dismissed at 99 runs, missing his century by just one run. Apart from these two batters, Virat Kohli got 70 runs while Rohit Sharma managed 52 runs with his bat.

Now with this win, New Zealand is leading the series by 0-1 with two more matches to go. The second Test between India and New Zealand will be played from October 24 at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium, Pune.

While India lost this match, they will take many positives with them as well. Sarfaraz Khan, the sensation of Indian domestic cricket came again as the backbone for his senior team and got 150 runs. Even after the injury, Rishabh Pant did not show any kind of fatigue and scored almost a hundred in the second innings for India.

For New Zealand as well, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway took responsibility for the innings in the absence of Kane Williamson and the failure of Tom Latham. The veteran bowling all-rounder Tim Southee with his fifty got another milestone as he surpassed the Indian opener Virender Sehwag in terms of scoring the most sixes in the history of Cricket.
