The deadline for franchises to submit their list of retained players is October 31, 2024. Some teams plan to stick with their core members, while others are considering a fresh approach. Meanwhile, star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has left everyone in suspense with a single tweet.

Pant, who has been playing for Delhi Capitals and captaining the side for a couple of years, took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle to ask whether he would be sold if he went to the auction, and if so, what his price would be in the mega auction.

Pant tweeted: “If I go to the auction, will I be sold or not? And for how much??”

Pant became the captain of Delhi Capitals in 2021 after Shreyas Iyer was sidelined due to a shoulder injury. He continued in the role even when Iyer returned. Although Pant missed one season due to a car accident, the team trusted him to lead them again in the most recent edition of the tournament.

Pant has captained Delhi Capitals in 43 matches, winning 23, losing 19, and one match ending with no result. In IPL 2024, the team couldn’t make it to the playoffs. In his debut season as captain, Delhi Capitals performed impressively in the league stage, finishing at the top of the points table, but they couldn’t reach the final. They haven’t finished in the top four for the last three seasons.

If Pant stays with Delhi Capitals, he is likely to be retained for Rs 18 crore before the auction. Along with him, players like Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Abhishek Porel may also be retained by the franchise. The team may use the Right to Match (RTM) card for players such as Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tristan Stubbs, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed, or Mukesh Kumar.
