Former England fast bowler James Anderson has made a bold statement about Harry Brook’s future in Test cricket. Anderson believes that Brook possesses the shot-making abilities of both Joe Root and Kevin Pietersen, and has the potential to become England’s best batter in the format.
Harry Brook recently delivered an outstanding performance by hitting a triple-century against Pakistan in the first Test at Multan. It was his first triple-hundred across any format, making it a memorable achievement. Brook batted with great intent throughout his innings, never letting Pakistan’s bowlers find their rhythm.
Harry Brook scored an impressive 317 runs from 322 balls, hitting 29 fours and 3 sixes. It was a remarkable performance by the young player, who also built a huge partnership of 454 runs with Joe Root. Root added 262 runs from 375 balls, including 17 fours.
Joe Root and Kevin Pietersen are two of the finest batsmen England has ever had. Recently, Root passed Alastair Cook to become England’s highest run-scorer in Test cricket by hitting an impressive double century in Multan.
After the magnificent inning of Harry Brook, James Anderson said that he has the potential to surpass the greats of England like Joe Root and Kevin Pietersen.
While talking to Tailenders podcast, Anderson stated “He’s on the way to being in the top three that I’ve played with. It’s Root, Pietersen and him. He’s definitely got all the attributes to overtake them.”
While talking further, Anderson claimed that Brook looks like a mixture of Root and Pietersen which will definitely makes him the greatest batter of England Cricket History.
“He’s just got everything. Without trying to big him up too much because he’s still really early in his test career, I do think that he’s got the perfect amount of each of those two and that’s what will make him the best that we’ve ever had,” the former pacer added.
“But he’s got the shots of both Root and Pietersen. He can destroy an attack if he wants to, he can play a longer innings if he needs to,” Anderson said.
“The thing that’s really similar between Root and Brook is that they love batting. They literally couldn’t care less what format it is. They just want to bat,” the 42-year-old added.
