The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not officially announced the Mega Auction Date for IPL 2025 yet, but the IPL teams have been informed about the schedule. The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is expected to be held on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Last year’s auction took place in Dubai, and this year, the event will also be held in the Middle East. Although London and Singapore were also considered possible locations, Saudi Arabia was chosen because its time zone is suitable for live broadcasts. According to sources, the Board and IPL officials are close to finalizing the venue, which will need to accommodate all 10 teams and the large crew from Jio and Disney Star for three days.

Even though Saudi Arabia is more expensive than Dubai, the BCCI feels that hosting the auction there will help the IPL grow by reaching new audiences and expanding its fan base. However, the teams are waiting for an official confirmation from the BCCI so they can start the visa process and sort out other arrangements on time.

Not to forget, BCCI has asked all the franchises to submit the list of their retained players by the end of 31st October 2024. This time teams can retain up to six players which includes the use of one Right To Match(RTM) card.
