Ishan Kishan To Miss This Big Tournament, Sanju Samson To Replace The Wicket-keeper

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is expected to miss the Duleep Trophy opener in Anantapur on Thursday, September 5, due to an injury.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the left-handed batter might miss the start of the Indian domestic season opener. It is also uncertain if he will be available for the later stages. The wicketkeeper recently played in the Buchi Babu tournament.

Sanju Samson, who was not originally chosen for any of the four teams, is likely to be called in as a replacement for Ishan Kishan. Kishan was part of Team D, led by Shreyas Iyer. Team D will play their first match against Team C, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and their second match will be against Team A starting September 12 in Anantapur.

Last season, Kishan faced problems with the national selectors because of disciplinary issues. He missed several Ranji Trophy matches despite receiving explicit instructions from the BCCI. He was told that his chances of national selection would depend on his participation with his state team.

This possible issue for Kishan arises while other key players are also sidelined from the multi-day red-ball matches. Suryakumar Yadav injured his hand during the Buchi Babu tournament and is currently receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja have withdrawn from the tournament due to personal reasons.
