Is Joe Root Looking To Break Sachin Tendulkar’s All-Time Record? Here Is an Exclusive Statement By The English Batter

The dashing England batter Joe Root is very close to breaking the record of former Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar who holds the prestige of scoring the most runs in the history of Test Cricket. Sachin has 15,921 runs in the longest format of the game with 51 hundreds and 68 fifties.

However, Joe Root moved closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most runs in Test cricket after scoring two centuries in the second Test against Sri Lanka at Lords. The English batter is now 3,544 runs away from Tendulkar’s record.

While speaking on his comparison to Sachin Tendulkar, Joe Root said that he is not looking at personal milestones and would look to contribute to the team.

In a video released by England Cricket, Joe Root said, “I just want to play, and try, and do my bit for the team and score the runs as many as I can and see where we get to. But there’s no better feeling I mean, it’s amazing when you score 100, you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t, a big part of why you started playing the game and what you love about it.”

“But there’s no better feeling than winning a Test match. So the more, it can affect games and the more you can add to the team, the greater it is. So, that will be the main focus. And hopefully, more days like this will come with that mentality,” he added.

Joe Root became the second youngest player, after his fellow Englishman Alastair Cook, to score 12,000 Test runs. He achieved this milestone at the age of 33 years and 210 days.
