IPL 2025 Retention Update: From MS Dhoni To Virat Kohli, To Shubman Gill And Jadeja Know Where Players Going

According to the latest report in IPL 2025 retention, the current IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) might lose their captain, Shreyas Iyer. Cricbuzz reported that while the team wanted to keep him, they had to let him go because he asked for a very high fee. The report also says that two other teams are interested in roping in Iyer.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is said to have his return as captain for Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB). According to ESPNcricinfo, Kohli, the former India captain, has shown interest in leading RCB again. He first captained RCB in 2013 and continued until IPL 2021, taking the team to the playoffs four times, including a runner-up finish in 2016.

The 2022 champion Gujarat Titans are looking forward to keeping Shubman Gill in the team as their captain. Apart from this, Rashid Khan will also be one of the top retentions of GT. Rashid Khan has been the most impressive candidate since his debut in cricket and currently, he holds the second position in terms of picking up the most wickets in T20s. The reports also suggest that the experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami will also serve another season for GT.

In another update, the five-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings has dropped a major hint regarding their retention. They are surely going to retain the former CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni along with the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the obvious pick for the Chennai Super Kings.

Washington Sundar is expected to join a new team for IPL 2025. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder has been part of Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2022, but he hasn’t been able to secure a consistent place in their starting lineup.

In IPL 2022, he played nine games but managed only seven games in 2023 and just two in 2024. Reports indicate that Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Titans are interested in signing him for the next season.
