IPL 2025: Former Rajasthan Royals Captain Set To Return To The Franchise In New Role

Former Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain and mentor Rahul Dravid is expected to return to the IPL 2008-winning team as head coach. According to Sports Tak, it will be very soon announced officially among the fans.

Before continuing talks with the Royals, Dravid was also approached by five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians and current champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The 51-year-old previously worked as a mentor for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) before taking on the role of coaching India’s junior team and leading the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

He became the captain of Rajasthan Royals in 2012 and he was seen as the skipper of the side for 40 games. During his leadership, the team secured 23 victories. Dravid is also the sixth-highest run-scorer for the Royals. He has scored 1,324 runs in 51 innings with an average of 27.02 which includes seven fifties.

He started his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and played his final match for the Rajasthan Royals. Over 89 games, he scored 2,174 runs at an average of 28.23, including 11 half-centuries.

Rahul Dravid as the coach for team India did exceptionally well. Under his leadership, India won some memorable bilateral series along with the recent T20 World Cup beating South Africa in the final.
