Rishabh Pant is set to remain with the Delhi Capitals for the 2025 Indian Premier League. With this, he has quashed all the rumors about a potential move to Chennai Super Kings.
As reported by Cricbuzz, this announcement coincides with Pant’s impressive century in the second innings of the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. With this, it has put a full stop to all the rumors that claimed a possible rift between Delhi Capitals and Rishabh Pant.
Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not announced the updated retention rules, the sources indicate that Pant is expected to be Delhi Capitals’ top retention pick.
Pant’s retention was confirmed after he met with co-owner Parth Jindal in Mumbai. He currently earns INR 16 crore, and his salary could go up if the BCCI increases the team’s overall budget.
Pant captained the team in the 17th season after sitting out the previous one due to a car accident. Since his return to competitive cricket, he has been performing the same with his bat and bowl.
Pant’s innings of 109 at Chepauk featured 13 fours and 4 sixes. In IPL 2024, he amassed 446 runs in 13 matches with a striking rate of 155. He also holds the record as Delhi Capitals’ highest run-scorer. The wicket-keeper batter has a total of 3,284 runs for the franchise.
