India’s vice-captain, Shubman Gill is expected to be rested for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in October. The selection committee has given the reason for the workload for their rest.
India has to play 10 Test matches in the World Test Championship cycle and Gill along with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jaiswal will play a crucial role for India.
Along with Gill, fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will also be unavailable for selection because of the upcoming three-Test series against New Zealand.
“Shubman Gill will be rested for the T20Is against the visiting Bangladesh. The matches will be played on October 7 (Gwalior), 10 (Delhi), and 13 (Hyderabad), and the first Test against the Kiwis starts on October 16.”
“So there is a gap of just three days between the T20I series and the opening game against New Zealand. So, it is important to rest, Gill, a BCCI source told PTI.”
The management is not giving importance to T20I games as the World Test Championship is at the top of the priority list.
