The star spin duo of team India Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja had some marvelous records with their batting. On the very first day of the Chennai Test, India scored 339 runs at the loss of six wickets where Ashwin was standing at 102 runs while Jadeja got 86 runs, they both finished their innings at 113 and 86 respectively.

Jadeja came to bat at number seven while Ashwin got on board at number eight. On the first day, Jadeja and Ashwin had a partnership of 195 runs. This is the highest partnership while batting at position seven or more. Before it, the record belonged to Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan who stitched a partnership of 133 runs for 10th wicket.

Ashwin has now become the rarest player to get 500+ Test wickets and score more than 20 fifties in the game’s longest format. Ashwin has 516 wickets, 14 fifties, and six hundreds in Test cricket. The second on the list is England’s great Stuart Broad with 500+ wickets and 14 fifties.

Ashwin has become 2nd player in the World Championship base to get 100 Test wickets and score more than 1000 runs. The first to achieve this is Ravindra Jadeja.
